In Boston tens of thousands show up to counter protest small group of white nationalists trying to pass themselves off as free speech protesters.

Courtesy of ABC News:

A total of 33 arrests were made today, mostly from disorderly conduct and a few assaults on police officers, the Boston Police Department announced. Police Commissioner William Evans said at a news conference this afternoon that some urine-filled bottles were thrown at officers, and police indicated on Twitter that some demonstrators were throwing rocks at police.

But for the most part, Evans said, the day of direct action went off smoothly as police planned, with very little injury and property damage.

"Overall I thought we got the First Amendment people in, we got them out, no one got hurt, no one got killed," he said.

Police did stop three people with ballistic vests and a gun, Evans said, "but we were lucky to get those three out of here and confiscate the vests."

Evans said roughly 40,000 people descended on Boston today, "standing tall against hatred and bigotry in our city, and that's a good feeling." He added that he wished the "trouble makers stayed away," who he said weren't there for either the free speech side or the counterprotesters' side, but "were here just to cause problems."

Actually that whole "free speech" theme was added later after, the events of Charlottesville.

Originally this march was to be one of several featuring White Supremacists, but they quickly rebranded themselves in order to fool the public.

However nobody was actually fooled as you can tell from the sheer numbers that showed up to protest them.
Damn, that is a huge crowd!

Even just a regular Donald Trump supporter was shamed by the crowd into taking off his obnoxious red cap.
This could have been much worse, however the Boston PD was out in force to make sure that there was no repeat of what had happened in Virginia.

Speaking of Donald Trump he appeared to take to Twitter early to start some shit...
...and then later thought better of it and decided to come out in support of the counter protesters.
That's right you little bitch, you better start trying to make nice with the majority of this country who are sick and tired of your racist Nazi ass.

Bullshit, Gryphen. You just lied. He did not think better of it, he never thinks better of anything he does. And he did not come out in support of the protestors. Obviously they brought him his afternoon propaganda folder a little early, and whole he was distracted, someone got his phone and tweeted out the second message

I love seeing "big tough guy" reduced to the pansy ass he is IRL.

There's plenty more like Boston coming because our numbers will ALWAYS be greater than those cowards!

And trying to have his cake and eat it too. He'll never learn.

Maybe Trump thought that the large crowd were there in support of him and the few in the rotunda (?) were there in protest of the white supremacist, so-called "free speech" advocates. Interesting that, afterwards, they claimed that they had no ties to the white supremacists in Charlottesville despite the fact that the crazies in Charlottesville were all planning to go to Boston next.

I think the announcement that no guns, riot gear, no sticks that could be used as weapons would be allowed in Boston. These guys just love their weapons because they are nothing without the level of intimidation that their weapons provide. I think that's what them away from the Boston Common Saturday. Good for the Boston authorities! And good for the people of Boston who told the alt-right clearly where not to go!

  3. "Looks like many anti-police agitators in Boston. Police are looking tough and smart! "
    ----------------------
This to me is far more chilling than anything else he has said/tweeted in the last week.

He is portraying Americans exercising their right to peaceably assemble as "anti-police agitators", and suggesting that police would be right in going after protesters for being "anti-police."

So any time anyone protests trump or his fellow white supremacists they will be labeled anti-police which is a short step to being labeled anti-law-and-order which is a short step to being labeled criminals which is a short step to saying protesters are criminals and must be locked up.

And doesn't "anti-police agitators" sound a lot like the "outside agitators" phrase so often used by the kkk to describe civil rights supporters?

I agree with the commenter above that trump did not tweet the second statement. That was a damage control attempt by one of his handlers in the White House.

One hour 20 minutes in between, I agree! Either that, or he had a good talking to by someone. We ALL know what he thinks down deep.

You're so right, Nefer. That's what the political right did to the "Black Lives Matter" people. Demonize them. Fox News will spread the word and Trump will blare it out via Twitter and his little fingers. We know that Trump and his family feel only disdain for anyone who expresses differing views; Ivanka once referred to protesters as "peasants." They were her fellow American citizens, interested in preserving the Constitution - all of it!

"In 1987, when a group of locals, including my family, marched to protest the ongoing segregation, we were met by an army of white supremacists who vowed to “Keep Forsyth White” and paraded through the streets of my hometown with nooses slung over their shoulders."
"Such naïveté our “FATAL FORGETFULNESS .” For there is nothing new about what happened in Charlottesville, and we don’t have to look back more than a few years to find other examples of white terrorists killing innocent people: from James Harris Jackson’s 2017 stabbing of Timothy Caughman on a street in Manhattan; to Dylann Roof’s massacre of nine parishioners at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015; to Wade Michael Page’s 2012 shooting spree at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin."In the wake of Charlottesville, our national battles lines are drawn just as clearly as they were that day in Forsyth, when civil rights leader Hosea Williams stood on one side of a country road singing “We Shall Overcome,” and on the other side SEETHING whites chanted, “Go Home Nigger! Go Home Nigger!”
" The whites-only rule lasted for decades in Forsyth County not because groups of white men committed acts of violence, but because thousands of their friends, relatives, neighbors, and co-workers upheld a code of silence."whether good and decent white Americans are willing to give up our innocence, break our habit of silent complicity with racial injustice, and finally face our black brothers and sisters with honesty, empathy, and compassion." {The 'T'ime is NOW.} BLM

How many more of these rallies and protests are planned? Where?

Charlottesville, alt right planned to come armed with guns, it started out vicious and violent.

There are many statues to come down, I expect there will be protests and freedom of speech events.

People of good will have spoken out for speaking candidly about the problem of racial discrimination, most notably Bill Clinton, but also including prominent people of color. Yes, there is a lot of resistance to removing barriers to opportunity based on color, sexuality, or religion, but it is being brought more and more often to the forefront and the conversation is finally being opened.

The more open the conversation is, the more honest, the better it is for our country and our fellow citizens. Get the conversation going.

  11. If we didn't know the police department of Charlottesville was either inept or Nazi sympathizer before, the professionalism of the Boston police department has certainly exposed it.

Sorry, but Charlottesville police dropped the ball big time. And they had plenty of warning of what was going to happen. Those permits had to go through the courts to be approved. They knew this would be a huge rally. The police either did nothing to prepare or the purposely turned a blind eye. Either way it was gross negligence and incompetence.

The chief of police for Charlottesville should have had his resignation on the mayor's desk on Monday morning. The Mayor should have demanded it if it wasn't there.

I think the Nazis or other alt-right groups are suing. At least they had the same complaint as you express and they wanted to go to court.

    2. What are the Nazis going to sue about? The police stood by while these White Supremacists beat on people with clubs. The Nazis came prepared with shields, body armor and weapons. They beat people while the police just stood and watched.

  14. The Nazis are already winning.

They have the public saying "what's wrong with free speech" and calling the protesters "thugs" and that the left is violent.

In just a week Trump has managed to smear liberals and the media is helping but buying into the "rebranding" the Nazis are using. By using "Nationalist" instead of "White Nationalist, Alt-Right instead of White Supremacist or Nazi the media is enabling this hate speech.

Just because Bannon is gone we haven't won anything. We are losing every day we have a Fascist in the Oval Office.
